Ok, so I have a 1995 240sx and i just bought it, it ran wonderfully for 2 months, now its having some startup issues. When I start it up it floods instantly, but after i get it running ( i have a 5 speed manual) when i go to downshift and to stop the rpm's will drop and the car will die. But when I first start it up, I have to rev it a tad so it won't drop under 1000 rpms, because if it does it will die. But after it gets running, it shoots blue smoke out the exhaust and smells like gas. It kinda sputters for 30 seconds also. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

do you have startup issues always or only when the engine is warm? instantaneous flooding sounds like your temperature sensor...it may be bad and thus telling the ecu that the engine is cold when really the engine is warm..therefore the ecu tells the injectors to put more fuel in than what is actually really needed in turn causing the flooding

well, it will flood all the time, but when the engine is cold, i can stop it from flooding by reving a little, but like if i stop at a gas station and fill up and i've been driving a little and the engine is warm, it will always flood and i will have to sit there and try to get it to start. so its worse when its warm b/c it always floods.... so are you talking about my thermosat or the actual gauge in my car next to the spedometer?

the problem is that i don't have a code for the check engine light. All thats happening is that the check engine light is on. I don't know where you would find a code

no bro i mean your temperature sensor..its a sensor that tells your ecu the temp of your engine which in turn your ecu decides how much fuel should go in...this problem definately sounds like the temp sensor..its located on the right of your TB if i remember correctly...the only other problem this sounds like would be not having the right heat range spark plug in your engine...have you changed spark plugs recently and then had this problem?

well I have changed my spark plugs recently, but i changed them after all this was happening. but there were stages of this problem, the first stage is would die like once a week, then it started to get worse and die like every other day, and now it sputters and always die no matter what. I changed the spark plugs when it started to die like every other day.
