I just purchased a 1995 240sx SE with the factory alarm/remote door locks. I have a few questions about the remote and alarm.

My biggest problem is, that my alarm keeps going off randomly. From my searches, this seems like a common problem. It is usually 3am when the alarm decides to go off, which doesn't make my neighbors very happy. What I would like to know is, is there a way to lock the doors, without enabling the alarm? Right now, I have been leaving my car unlocked just to keep the alarm from going off in the AM. I don't have the stereo or anything inside, and I doubt anybody could steal my car, with it being blocked in by my other cars.

My next question is about the factory key fob. I know I may be an idiot, but what does each button do? The icons have rubbed off of the fob. I've fiddled with the remote trying to figure it out, but I think I am missing something. The top semi-circle arms the alarm and locks the doors...I think. The left round button unlocks driver's door on the first push, both doors on two clicks. The right round button seems to do nothing.

And finally, is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm...either overall or individually on each zone?

I have searched everywhere for this information and couldn't find any help other than how to disable my factory alarm by removing and shorting the #2 relay. I don't want to rig the car up, I want to keep it as stock as possible, and I would like to know how to use the remote properly.

Any help you can provide will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I too had the same problem. I noticed that my hood grommets that are along the sides of the hood were missing. I replaced them and it stopped my alarm from going crazy at all hours of the night. I'm not saying that this is going to work for you but, there could be a chance that yours are missing as well... Good luck and welcome to NICO.

Oh BTW, the top one locks and arms, the left unlocks and deactivates, the right when held down sets the alarm off, also known as the panic button...

If you want to lock your car without using the alarm, just open your driver door and push door lock button down, then shut the door. Your doors would be locked and you don't need to worry about the alarm going off. Or use you key and lock from outside. I used to do that.

I spoke to soon.

If I lock my door, with any method...my alarm is armed. Period. Lock with the inside driver's lock...armed....key fob...armed...armed. armed.

I'm back at the beginning.

So, I am pretty sure there is nobody that has an s14 and knows how to use their key fob. It is written.

It might be the alarm sensors. Disconnect them one by one and see if it still goes off. I believe most of the time it is a faulty sensor in the hood or the trunk. My hood sensor was messed up so I disconnected it, my alarm hasnt gone off randomly since.....
