Ive had an issue for a while with the latch on the drivers-side door occasionally (every few months) needing a bit of 'coaxing' with a screwdriver in order to pop into the raised position to make it over the striker when closing the door.

I had to do this today....but now, even without ever hitting the locks, the door will not open.

I get a sort of back pressure when trying to operate the lock from either the inside or outside.... it feels like the latch closed over the striker without the lock being activated and now when I try to unlock im bending the arm on the power lock mechanism, although I may be totally off on that.

Any tips on popping it back open so the lock can be replaced?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

try to fish the door panel out a little and actuate the rods by hand. once you get the door open you need to figure out if its an alignment issue or a bad striker/lock assembly.

You need to force the release on the latch inside the door down to get it to release the door. Push out on the door while pushing the release for the inside down. Before that though make sure the latch is unlocked, do this by following the rod from the outside lock cyl down to the latch and push that down with the rod removed from it.
