Hey everyone. I just bought my 1995 240sx and the passenger's power window didn't work. I figured, "no biggy", I can figure this out in no time (ASE Electric cert). Boy was I wrong. Ok..this is where I'm at. The window motor is a two wire that swaps positive and negative. I tested the sub-switch (passenger side) while it was disconnected off of the motor and I would get 12v and -12v. Good switch. I tested the main switch and got the same thing. I jumped the motor off of the battery, and its good going up and down. I tested for open/shorts between the main and the sub switch. Connections are good. The window lock is not on, and I even took apart the main switch to verify the lock was not stuck. This is where I get stumped. Testing the switch off the motor, I get -12v/12v, but when I connect the load, it reads .01v to .03v. At this point I jumped to conclusions and figured the motor was creating too much of a load, so I went out and got a used motor and regulator ($125!! better than $380 dealer). Well, that one had the same results. I could jump it off of the battery, and it would work fine, but off of the switch it wouldn't. Same readings also. Switch putting out 12v/-12v w/o load and .01-.03v w/ load. Right now I'm absolutely lost as to where to go next. I have talked this over with the master techs at my shop, but since we aren't specifically Nissan oriented, they couldn't help me without the car there. Well, any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
