I have a complete KA24DE engine/drivetrain from a 1995 240sx. How do I find out if it is OBD1 or 2? It has a single wire oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold. I dont have the sticker code on the ECU right now, but I could find out. Someone told me that some 1995's were still OBD1.Thanks!

single wire is OBDI and most 95 are OBDI. the one built closer to the 96 model year became OBDII.

if you have a single wire O2 sensor than you have an early period 1995... they changed over a bunch of the electronics in 10/94 so your motor is from a car manufactured 9/94 or earlier...

Technically ALL 95s and later are OBDII however they do not have OBDII ports (they weren't added until the 96 model years) if you want one you'd have to wire it up yourself but it is capable of supporting it and a handy tool to have for diagnostics.

the 95 ecus still support Nissan consult too so if you're looking for diagnostics you could go that way as well.

Wouldn't OBDII have a second O2 sensor on downstream after cat. And wouldn't it have a flywheel/flexplate position sensor aka(crankshaft position sensor CPS) I think. Also would have that (GST) Generic Scan Tool hook-up port(on passanger side of harness).

I'm just mentioning these because I also have a '95 KA24DE and those are the items that I have on mine. And I believe that I have an OBDII, correct me if I'm wrong.

GST connector, would be near the ECM in the interior part of the harness, if you still have that.

Didn't he mention that he has the motor out of the car, or something?????

Also CPS would be on top of the trans bell-housing right behind the cylinder head, with little metal shield and on 10mm bolt IORC. If that is OBDII specific????

Didn't OBDI and OBDII have a single wire O2 in exhaust manifold, and OBDII had second on down stream, with like 3 or 4 wires (maybe even heated O2 sensor). Don't want to go to garage and check, feel too lazy and tired.
