Hi i bought a brand new battery and new alternator. i pulled the wiring from a running car when i installed it. i checked with a volt meter and i was only getting 12.4 volts with car on. i checked the plug going to the alternator and there was no current going through the wires. what can i do? i checked my fuses. took my ground off and made a better connection to the chassis. please help,

Have you checked the charge at the battery while running?

Have you checked the wiring for the alternator to make sure it's where it needs to be? Have you check to make sure the ground to the alternator is connected?

Check 100a & 75a main fuses under hood fuse panel. There should be (2) 7.5a charge fuses also. Check and see if any are bad.

Like said above, checkthe battery while running. if the 75a fusible link was bad, then most likely he'd be complaing of all the common interior light problems and car may not even start. also if the alt wires were hooked up incorrectly you'd blow might blow your 75a fuse spoke of previously. so if that has blown double check that the alternator and starter B+ wires arent backwards.
