Okay, so I still have that squeal and decided to start with replacing the Idler Belt Pulley since it was easy and cheap. It didn't make a difference, but I need help clerifying that I installed it right. I included an image of how it's installed right now. I basically need to make sure the washers are in the right direction. Also, the pulley had one side that was more recessed than the other. Any guidence would be appreciated!

I appreciate your reply, but I already have the fsm and don't see a mention of how it's configured. It just points out where it's located at.

which one is the idler pulley?, i've never heard of that on our engines

theres the water pump, power steering pump and alternator pulleys and ac compressor pulley and its tensioner and then the crank.

I think the tensioner and the idler pulley are the same thing. It's not spring loaded on the 240, so that's why I think they call it an idler pulley or something like that. It's what all the manuals refer to it as and also the parts stores.

If I am correct I think what he is referring to is the pulley/sprocket thats on the front of the head, it connects the lower and upper timing chains on the DE model.

First rule of part removal... pay attention to how it came off so you can correctly put it back on! Just wish I could remember to always do that. OK, for the idler pulley. Begin by installing the "fattest" washer between the bracket and the pulley, which spaces the pulley just out far enough to offer free clearance from the bracket edges. Secondly, slide the idler pulley back on, with the flat surface of the pulley facing outwards. Follow the idler with the second steel "fat" washer (slightly thinner than the first one). Next comes the plastic shield, which will only fit one way to give proper thread engagement for the last item, which is the nut. Does that make sense?
