I just took a job delivering pizzas (saving for turbo) which means a lot of city driving (50 miles in 4 hours), it's pretty much non-stop clutching action shifting 1st to 2nd back down to 1st.95 240sx, 122,000 miles, 5spd, stock drivetrain.

When pushing in the clutch pedal it feels as if it's letting down in stages...i.e. if the floor were 100% down, the clutch sticks a little at 50%, 75%, 95% accompanied with a little *click* each time i pass the catch point. This annoyance doesn't affect how the car drives, but I have noticed that in neutral (clutch engaged) there is a whining noise coming from underneath the car, but as i push in the clutch, the noise goes away. What do you think could be the reason for the sticking and noises in the clutch/clutchpedal?? I've checked all the lines for leaks and the master cylinder. They both seem fine. The clutch probably has around 25,000 miles on it. Any help is appreciated.

The noise and the pedal problem are likely not related. The noise your hearing sounds like internal trans bearings. You should also be able to hear the noise from the trans as you drive the vehicle except in forth gear. The pedal problem is likely related to the pivot or the pedel retun springs located on the pedal it self. The sproings are hooked on either side of the pedal housing through plastic bushings. Those bushings tend to wear down till the metal spring makes contact with the metal clutch pedal housing. When apllying the pedal the springs catch on the metal and release as you push down on it. The bushing are available seperatly but are a real PITA to install them.

The bearing problem will become more of a problem down the road , you could probably tollerate it for awhile, I recommend you at least change your fluid in your trans, maybe add some synthetic fluid. The syncros in your trans should be ok with synthetic fluid as they are not dual cone and wont tend to slip with the synthetic stuff. stay away from GL5 though as it is corrosive to the syncros. GL4 is the recommended fluid.
