Okay, first post. Picked up a 1995 240SX for nothing, literally. Well, traded a used set of HKS Hiper-D coilovers off my turbo IS300.

This thing has almost no functioning electrical accessories. No dash lights except the little LCD square thing, no radio, no AC or fan, no tail lights or brake lights, no blinkers, no dome light, no power windows, no sunroof, no wipers, no power mirrors.

The headlights work, the horn works, and the engine starts and runs fine.

Strange, huh? Any suggestions? Fuses are all good. I replaced the battery when I got it since the last one was completely dead.

I HATE electrical problems. My IS300 has 1188 horsepower. I LOVE building engines, but it's almost like opposite sides of the brain. Looking forward to hearing some feedback!

Ummm..check your battery terminals to see if you have any corrosion between the main wires and the posts. I can't think of anything that would take out everything like that does, except for no power getting out of the battery.

Just to clarify, does your dash illuminate when you turn on your parking lights? Do ANY of your parking lights work? A Haynes manual for the 240 will have an electrical schematic that you can use to trace your non-working functions back to a common problem area...

If your headlights work but parking lights don't, then I would expect to see a corroded or missing wire on the POS+ battery terminal..??

If power's not getting out of the battery, nothing would work, right? I mean, the horn works, the headlights work, and the car starts, runs, and drives fine. I know the starter isn't fused, but the fuel injection, fuel pump, horn, headlights, and things like that are, so power has to be getting into the fuse box. With so many things not working, though, I would agree, seems like it all has to be attributed to one thing.

...and parking lights do not work, dash does not illuminate, but the little LCD square on the dash does light up when I turn headlight switch on.

check your fusible links in the relay box by the battery. check them carefully. hard to tell sometimes. check the 75 amp alternator fusible link first and the green 30 amp one at the other end first. test with multimeter if you cant see that they are blown.

this is 91-94 relay box. not sure what yours is like but you have a blown fuse.

Got it. It was the 75A alternator fuse and was waaay hard to see. Before I put another one in, I'm guessing the voltage regulator on the alternator is bad or it wouldn't have blown in the first place. Is that correct? I need a new alternator and another 75A fuse?

That would be my first guess but Im not a mechanic. Lots of other ways the short could happen. If its the original alt, i would replace it as it has reached the end of its life.

I am dealing with the same issue. All the electrical lighting except headlights and brake lights wouldnt work. Turned out to be the alternator that was overcharging, it fried the gauge cluster. Now i'm chasing down why I don't have parking lights.

Also some modules under the drivers kick panel burnt out. Seatbelt mod and headlight mod(to flip the lights).
