I have an intermittant start problem with my 240. Sometimes it starts & other times it won't turnover. The battery is 6 mos. old so I took it to Interstate Batterys & they load tested it & it tests like new. I've removed the starter & had it bench tested & it functions fine. I removed the negative battery cable & had a new end put on it (it wouldn't tighten 100%) so that is also be fixed. I replaced the clutch safety switch at the pedal & the starter still won't turnover. Replaced the relay in the PDC with the same results....None! The batt has 12.6V sitting voltage.....I'm out of ideas. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Does the starter click when you try to crank engine? If so I think you have a bad winding on the amature. try tapping on the starter when it won't crank. I think you just have a bad starter.

he said he got it tested. When your car doesnt crank does the starter click multiple times or just once? You said you had your negative terminal replaced so did you look at the exposed wire to make sure it wasnt oxidized? If you didnt then check if it is cut it expose new wire and put your terminals back on.also wht happened before it wouldnt start? You might have something drawing away energy from your battery when you try to start. When it does start does it start quick or really slow and drawn out.

Also very important question that you may of over looked. Is your battery in the trunk?

No oxidation on the negative wire. Starts relatively fast when it was turning over. Battery is under the hood not in the trunk...

had same prob with mine it could possibly be the ignition switch but my problem was with the security system try puttin the car in neutral and grounding the starter terminals with a screwdriver if it turns over check your ignition switch pretty expensive for a new one or just buy a push button switch

my brand new starter wont turn over either, i have been using a rubber glove and touching the live wire going from the battery to the solenoid to click out the gear, and while its still touching that, touch the same wire to the other prong and the starter should turn over. it must be done in that order or your gear wont pop out and youll just end up spinning and burning out the starter.

otherwise, have you found a solution? i am still looking for one that doesnt involve me hot wiring the starter.
my starter did ONCE turn over normally. typical 240 behaviour.
