My car's battery light goes on/off at odd times. This started several months ago but is increasing in frequency - now it happens daily. Battery has been checked and I was told it was fine. Alternator has been checked and came out fine. Problem occurs most when a/c is on or lights but not always - sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. Sometimes the car loses a noticeable amount of power in bursts when the battery light is very bright but when light is dimly lit there is no noticeable loss of power. The headlights will become very bright when the battery light is very well lit but then after 2 or 3 seconds will dim to a lower level. Sometimes an electrical type "buzzing" noise accompanies the light but not always. Car has 159K miles. Any ideas as to the source of the problem would be greatly appreciated - I'm at a loss - but then I'm a girl -lol.

Could be a bad ground or battery cable. The battery cable issue is fairly common. Have those checked out.

The grounds were checked but I'm not sure about the cables - I'll have those looked at tomorrow - Thanks!

i also have a 94 limited ed. sentra. The battery light, and if you look really close when its dark out, the last light on the right of the same display comes on with it. This is telling you that your alternator is not charging. when mine did it, it took me a while and several alternators to find out that the ground cable on the battery half, the alternator hot wire and the battery hot clamp were all randomly losing connections..this will fry diodes in alternators very quickly. Change both battery clamps, and check the ring crimp terminal on the alternator hot wire. This should clear it up.
