A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey,
My wife's 1994 Sentra will only put out cool air when she's in motion, the higher the speed the better. On a really hot day, the AC is very sluggish and it overheats. I'm thinking this has something to do with the radiator fans. But I'm not sure if I need to replace them, or if they just need minor maintenance, or if an even larger replacement is required. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check the condensor. If it is full of leaves, grass and bugs it can cause the problem you have.

Both fans should automatically turn on whenever your A/C is on. If they're not, try replacing the relays.

What "overheats"?
Is you rad full?
Do your fans ever come on?
Yes, they should come on with the AC, and they certainly should work during hot engine temps regardless of if the AC is on.
Condensers do work better clean.
The fans do nothing over speeds of 30 mph or so, with more road air moving over the rad/condenser than the fans could ever move.
