1994 Q45a not starting please help

I searched the forum and found no answer so: I bought the car 2 weeks ago. All has been well until…I had been driving the car off and on all day yesterday. At the end of the day I ran into a store and when I returned to the car it would not start. No click, no noise at all and nothing from the starter. The problem seemed like when someone tries to start a car while it was in a gear and the car will not turn over (I checked that several times). The battery had plenty of power ( the lights radio windows worked fine). The tow truck took 3 hours and during that wait I tried to start the car with no success. This morning when I called the repair shop 18 hours later, they said it started up fine.?? We both thought it was the starter, so the shop suggested doing a test on the starting system. That a few dollars but my question is : is this the area the shop should be looking or is there someplace else or other problem I should explore. (oh and I installed a GPS system to her the day before and I can say I turned the car on and off at least 25 times and blew/then replaced a few fuses during the project but the car ran fine after-I don’t know if this matters but) Thanks for all the great info

Maybe the way you wired it is interferes with the anti-theft?
