I was driving home from cary to raleigh, north carolina and my Q stop in the middle of the road. I could not accelerate the gas pedal. manage to get to the shoulder. I thought it was a fuel pump. We replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. Still no gas is coming out from the pump. we tested both old and new pump, they are working fine. Could it be the control unit? Where is the control unit located? or What could be the problem? I have been driving my Q for 8yrs now with now problem at all. Please help. If you leave in raleigh, come on. I will pay you. dealer charge too much. My number is 919-414-5241. Very urgent pls. it is my only car.

There's directions in there for how to bypass the fuel pump controller for emergency use.

The problem to my car is the fpcu - Fuel Pump Control Unit. The #4 connector has burned out. I found a use one in a junkeYard for $100 and put it in. The car start right up. However, the fuel pump is not alligned properly in the tank. The Gas gauge is not working. Any help please.

OEM pump, we presume? new O ring?

You bent the fuel pump sender unit.

Lots of posts on replecement and diagnosis of both units in IOM.

Must have been failing for a long time to take out FPCU, although it can fail on its own, though more rarely.

No capitaliztion of place names in NC?

The pump is new made by Bosch. Paid $245. I Will get a new ring tomorrow. I will bent the fuel pump sender unit. Thanks a lot. I read that Bosch is a great pump. I have not seen anywhere in the forum where they talk about Bosch fuel pump.

The definitive fuel pump and FPCU posts are by Tangalora in IOM.

Check them out before you proceed.

Japanese or German Bosch? I think OEM is made by another Japanese supplier.

Just remember that the FPCU was designed for the current draw of a particular fuel pump............................so if the new pump is not the exact functional equivalent of oem pump, it could overheat the FPCU causing another failure soon.

An interesting test is to read the current thru the fuel pump fuse with an old dirty fuel filter and see the current decrease when the fuel filter is replaced as the pump does less work to maintain psi.

Which brand fuel pump is good? Would they take this fuel pump back if I mentioned that it is not designed for the fpcu? It is a Bosch brand (New). I bought it from T.Hoff in Raleigh, NC (919)-833-8671 or 1-800-233-4633.

OEM. Don't remember the brand, but when oredered from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com one doesn't have to worry one is getting a third party substitute unless informed so, like steering racks from Meridian.
