I've read most of the Fuel Pump notes I can find, but here's the scenario.About a month ago, I had a defective injector replaced, drove the car home and parked in the driveway. Driveway causes car to sit slightly nose high.

Going to start the car this morning, it turns over once, splutters as though only a couple of injectors were firing, for maybe 2 or three seconds and dies. Now when I turn the ignition I think the starter is turning the engine over, and there's a clicking (2/sec?) from behind the driver seat.

I was thinking one of the fuel delivery components has died, which is a bit of a coincidence given the recent work on the injector, or somehow the fuel line from the tank (30% full) has emptied (no smell of fuel) and I didn't give the system long enough to get fuel to the engine.

From nothing in the lines, how long should it take to pump gas into the engine to start it? I didn't crank for more than 10-15 seconds because I didn't want to run the battery down or damage the starter.

Any suggestion would be appreciated and if it IS the fuel system, is there a place recommended near Pasadena in LA, because Glendale Infinity is $$$$.

ThanksMartin

Has it been sitting all of this time? When you first turn the key from off to on (not start), you should hear a hum from behind the back seat for about two seconds. After the car sits for a while (to let the fuel pressure bleed off) you should be able to squeeze the fuel line from between the filter to the rail, while an assistant turns the key to "on"... it will swell from the pressure. If not you have a pump problem...

If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, check my other post on an $8 fuel pressure gauge... :D

Good luck!

The pump [one way valve] and the fuel pressure regulator should maintain 34 psi [at least 20 psi] for weeks unless an injector leaks it away.

I'm pretty embarrassed, I tried the "flooded engine" recovery and after a little while it started fine. Thanks for the help guys.Martin
