I just bought the car and love it, but I cant get the vent to blow hot or cold air, it just does nothing. But when I was test driving it, it worked a little bit (not a powerful air flow). Now nothing happens. Is there a common fix for this or a way to diagnose the problem? I would like to try and fix it myself if possible.

No, all I hear is a little click behind the glove box when I try to change the fan speed.

Find the blower motor connector, and use a multimeter or test light to see if you have power at the blower motor when you turn the fan switch on. If you have power, the blower motor is bad. To verify this, use your multimeter to test resistance to ground. If resistance is less that 4-5 ohms, the ground is likely good. If not, you'll have to check the fuses (unlikely if you're getting a "click") and chase the wiring from the blower back looking for power or a good ground and fix the problem there.

Or just supply 12 volts and ground directly to blower motor terminals.....if no worky, replace fan motor, a simple 10 minute operation and very common, I would bet it has already been replaced once depending on the number of miles on your Q { they generally last 150,000 miles from BRAND NEW- many replace with a junkyard used part, and then its remaining life is a crapshoot at best}

Actually dirty/worn bearings in motor have taken out the Darlington Bridge that controls fan speed also is my bet.

There is a great write up here on R&R both units. I think Elwesso did one article.

In my experience, the failure was caused by just old age that finally wore the carbon brushes down to almost nothing-same with fuel pump brushes, they were worn down to just about 1/4 inch long refusing to make electrical contact{and the fuel pump hum is likely just the small worn brushes rattling and vibrating in their holders as they lose length upon a close look}

It happened to me two months ago. I had to replace the blower motor. It very simple.....
Just take the glove box out and it right there......
Good thing I have a parts car....

Good call - I forgot to mention that procedure!
