New owner here, found a lady owned '94 with 90k miles and it's my new daily driver. Came from the dealership with one key and no remote. I purchased a remote from ikeyless.com, a new clone. I have gone through the programming sequence multiple times with no luck: I enter the car, open the trunk from the switch inside, close the door and lock all doors, put the ignition key in six times (or more) within ten seconds, then manually unlock and lock the drivers side door, then hit "lock" on the new remote. I get nothing. Have checked the batteries in the new remote, they are fine. Have run LAN on-board diagnosis modes II and III, and they check out. Tried running mode I, but I don't know what to look for with regards to signals from the car. What should the car do when I run mode I?Also, I have noticed there is no chime sounding when I leave the key in the ignition and open the door. Could this be part of my problem? Thinking maybe the ignition is not registering that I am putting the key in six times. Your help would be much appreciated, need a remote key here in Wisconsin, lock cylinders freeze in the winters.

Sorry, that's modes I and III I have run, communications and power door locks, and they both came back no errors. I couldn't figure out what to look for from the car when running mode II, switch monitor.

Does the chime come on when you first start the car up with out your seatbelts on?

Do you know if you got the right remote that matches the FCC number on the Control unit?

That place "ikeyless.com" seems pretty generic to me, Try Ebay and make sure you get the FCC code on the controller in the trunk.

Welcome to NICO.

Chime works! Don't know how I missed that. So now the only possibility is really that I have the wrong remote. Oh well, I should have gone for a real one with the FCC number from the start. Sometimes costs more when I try to save money.
