Not sure if anyone has experienced this issue, but at time (mostly when first taking off in the morning) when I put the vehicle in "D", foot on brake - it takes a while for the transmission to engage - if I give it gas, it almost acts as if in neutral. However, if I put it in "1, 2, or 3" it will engage immediately - acting normal. Once moving, can place if "D" and it's fine the majority of the time.

This occurs whether the car is started and allowed to warm up for a couple of minutes and or whether it is put in motion in 45 sec. Does not matter if taking straight off or having to back -up first.

Throughout the day I have check acceleration and down shifting and it seems to do fine.

I drive 300 - 500 miles daily in the vehicle - regularly maintained - fluid / filter was changed 25M ago and had symptoms prior to the service - fluid was clean, smelled fine, looked fine and no particles in pan - only a little gray film on pan.

Vehicle has 194,500 miles.... so, any ideas? Thank you for taking the time to read.

My first check would be to check to make sure your transmission linkage is adjusted properly.
