I dunno, to me 75-125k seems properly exercised if well maintained.

True! The car was owned by an elderly gentleman that traded it on a 3rd Gen Q. It was 11 years old at the time.

Its a risk/reward thing. Let's say you get it for $4000 and put another $4000 in it. you are married to the car because you can't get even $4000 out of it. Now if the trans goes, that's another $3000. If the AC goes, that's another $2000. If the sunroof goes, another $1000. Brakes, rotors, perhaps a caliper rebuilt, exhaust system, can you say ca-ching!

As you can see, you've got to love driving a Q to accept the risk.

Owning a Q, is like being married to a supermodel.

Think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

I dont know about you guys, but I always made my dates pay for their half! :)

I find that for a used car, its perfectly acceptable to save money doing as much labor as you can, or finding a cheaper shop to do basics (radiator, water pump, hoses, belts, brakes, suspension, etc). And used or rebuilt parts, unless its a fuel pump or something that wears easily or is prone to failure, should not be an issue. I'm $3600 into a car I paid $3800 for. Otherwise, it'd be a brand new economy car at $15k. Twice the price and none of the smiles!

i've got a question, i've looked at all the Q's on ebay and some have engine pics, but they're not the same. is the intake track different on a's and t's than the base model? my car and some of the ebay cars have the throttle body then plastic tubing which starts with a 45 degree bend, some on ebay have the tb, an extra metal piece that is twice the size of the tb which has the 45 degree bend, and then the plastic tubing starts with a straight piece. the extra metal piece also looks to have a round canister sticking out the side. what is this metal piece?
