1994 Q45 T sunroof

Sunroof opens ok but when it tries to shut it stops about 3 inches short. You can then manually help it shut . Took it to the dealer and they want $1800to fix it. I can't beleive that it anything major since the motor works and it operates to the open setting just fine.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Tom

Motor safety clutch is slipping because currently or in the past the rails were under lubricated.......friction and trash in channels.

Search the forum for how to dissassemble and adjust the clutch.

Make sure everything is clean and lubricated first. If that doesn't cure you - here's my thread on the clutch adjustment.

Clutch adj. works wonders......removing the headliner takes more time than the actual clutch adj. (took me 1.5 hrs... first timer)

what is the procedure to clean the rails?what lube do you guys recommend?now that it is warm i would like to do this service to prolong the life of sunroof.thanks.

Thin coat of white lithium grease on the rails. Nissan (hence Joe) has an aerosol can of lithium lubricant that is ggod for this and hood hinges.
