I've notices the rust spots in my rear door panels are beginning to show when the door is closed. Anyone have some suggestions on how to slow the rot?

I have had two of my three Q's repaired for rust there by body shops. The first was done under warranty by Infiniti.

I had the body shop spay the inside of the spaces with rust protectant liberally prior to any repairs.

The worst thig you can do is a half-hearted repair. It just makes the rust grow faster. Better to leave it alone. If rust has broken through the surface of the paint, get a pencil with a new eraser. Use the erase to remove the loose rust. Follow up with touch-up paint. It lasts for a little while. Doing anything more only opens up the wound for quicker spread of rust.

Also if you get the work done, be sure to get it done at a shop that knows rust problems. For example no one around here in California would have a clue how to do this right.

Where was the rust? Were these East coast cars?

The first was a Boston area car, the second from KC.My newest is from Florida

When you open up either rear door, the rust is in the area typically hidden by the closed door, but below the entry sill and a little back and up.

This is a standard spot for G50's to rust. I've seen other G50s with it too, when you know what to look for.
