I have had two of my three Q's repaired for rust there by body shops. The first was done under warranty by Infiniti.
I had the body shop spay the inside of the spaces with rust protectant liberally prior to any repairs.
The worst thig you can do is a half-hearted repair. It just makes the rust grow faster. Better to leave it alone. If rust has broken through the surface of the paint, get a pencil with a new eraser. Use the erase to remove the loose rust. Follow up with touch-up paint. It lasts for a little while. Doing anything more only opens up the wound for quicker spread of rust.
Also if you get the work done, be sure to get it done at a shop that knows rust problems. For example no one around here in California would have a clue how to do this right.
