Vacuum leaks?

Definitely an error in reassembly, but who knows what and how many besides you?

Why Qtech states more Q are bar-b-qued by inexperienced owners and incompetant techs than old age

wow, i have the exact car. and at one time, when it still worked, it would do the same thing, and would only stay running if i held on the gas.

if this is the case, look around at your hoses that go from the air filter all throughout the intake and what not. one of my was barely hanging. I got that fixed, and it ran perfectly fine.

so chances are, it's an air leak somewhere. might have to take some stuff apart, but it should be easy to find. all you really have to do is have someone in the car keeping it running, and have the other under the hood listening for the leak.

sorry if it's not clear lol, i'm not sure what everythings called, but hopefully this narrows it down.

Ditto. I did the same thing once putting the plenum back on the 90Q. In my case I forgot to hook up the 3/4" hose below the air tube.

Retrace the positive crankcase ventiltion with a flashlight (all the larger 3/4" hoses) looking for loose connections or cracked hoses. The two hoses attached below and above the air tube feed back to the valve covers and the PCV valve (did you clean it?). I've had to replace the small hose coming directly off the PS valve cover due to splitting. Check it closely. If any one of these hoses are loose or cracked it will cause the symptoms you describe. Are the IAC valve hoses on tight?

What was "red hot" the engine or catalytic converter?

Did you measure the temperature of the engine with a Consult or near equivalent?

What was the temperature of the Catalytic converter with a non contact thermometer.

Picky, picky!

I don't understand how one could drive a car in that condition anywhere without repairing it first.
