I have a 1994 Q45 I purchased back in Nov of last year. It is in pretty nice shape has 152k on the car, 145 when I bought it.

Here is the problem. When I bought the car it always had a little bit of a rough idel but nothing too serious. A few months after having the car I realized with the help of this site that I probably have a bad injector. Seems to have all the symtoms of one. My plan has always been to try and get that taken care of in August of this year when I had a little more cash to throw at it.

Well today while driving it after pulling a U-turn I noticed the car sputtered a bit when I stepped on the gas. At the next light it seemed to idel pretty choppy. Which sometimes it does after a hard start because of the leaky injector problem. Well pulling up to the next stop light the car dies while I am still going about 5mph I wait a min and it starts back up and doesn't want to idel at all, seems like it tries to idel at like 400rpm and it then nearly stalls if I don't keep the rpms up. I made sure it wasn't a gas gauge problem and put some in it, even some injector cleaner. But it is still doing it. After it starts and drives it runs perfectly fine, but if I come up to a stop it acts like it wants to stall again Is there anyone that might know what is going on with my car?

Sad thing is I HAVE to have it inspected tomorrow before I get it tinted and it seems like that won't happen. If you think you know what it might be I would appreciate any helpful opinions.

Here is the car

When my 90Q did this, it turned out to be a bad fuel pump and fuel pump control unit. Might want to have those checked. I'm not a proficient DIY'er, so took it to the dealer. I'm sure more knowledgable contributors on this board will be able to steer you in the right direction.

Check the MAF connector, and clean the throttle body thoroughly BEFORE you do the inspection. Make sure it is very warmed up before you test. Leave the car running, while you are waiting for the inspection.

A little accounting of the car's maintenance history would help.

Do you hear the fuel pump?

I haven't listened for the fuel pump yet, I will do that in the morning. Truthfully when I start the car up the steering wheel is moving into place so that is what I hear.

As far as the maintenance history, I don't know too much about it. The guy I bought it from didn't have to do anything major other than changing the oil and keeping everything up to date. I also haven't had a problem till now. Sorry I don't have much more info about the car. I feel pretty lost with this problem.
