I had my upper stabilizer links (oem) and tension rods (oem) replaced this week by my neighborhood mechanic. He also rotated my tires but could not do toe-in adjustment since he does not have alignment equipment so I got an alignment at an alignment shop. Now steering wheel starts to vibrate at 60 mph and gets progressively worse as speed increases. Something is up with the front end. I thought it might be a tire out of balance but it seems to me that if that was the case the vibration would smoothen out at certain speeds before getting worse again and here the vibration is progressively worse at all speeds. I seem to recal that the oem upper stabilizer links are mislabled and you have to put them on opposite to the stamplings onm the part. Is that true and could that be the source of the problem - stabilizer went in wrong?

The mislabeled part (or that portion of the service manual) is not the upper links - it's the bushings in the tension rods. The arrown points to the rear of the car in the manual but to the front on the OEM and replacement rods. The only time that comes in to play is if you buy only the bushings and have them pressed in yourself.

Your vibration defintaly doesn't sound normal - I'd have them check again for anything that's loose, then have the wheels balanced, and an alignment. You did several things at once, so it's hard to narrow down the exact cause.
