Did you replace all the rubber when you replaced the shocks? Blues or blacks?

I think you need to get acquainted with http://www.infinitipartsusa.com

Presume your mechanic has no particular G50 expertise?

You have found the right place to learn about your car, so dig in and start reading. Particular attention should be paid to posts by Q45tech.

With a torque wrench, some sockets, an FSM, a jack or a lift and the posts here you can do it yourself and save about $400 on the upper links and tension rod bushings (have them pressed in).

Were the strut mounts replaced? They would make noise, as well as sway bar end links in addition to the other parts you've replaced . If its any consolation, the parts you're replacing are are all wear items so you haven't "wasted" any money yet. Think of it as an investment.

Every 13 year old used car needs almost every piece of rubber replaced.Usually the window, hood and trunk and door moldings are ok. Sunnroof iffy.

That leaves a hundred other rubber things!

I would have taken it to dealer to get a full and complete list of things wrong.............paid them for their trouble [maybe have them do a few things] then had the list evaluated for triage.

Most of that is in the FSM, and maybe some in TSB.

You might consider

A common issue with the G50 are the bushings wearing out in the upper link, which will cause a creaking sound when your suspension is being excercised. If you look in the wheel well, above the tire, you will see the upper link which hovers over the inner part of the tire and connects to a bracket on the wheel well. You can often alleviate the creaking sound by spraying some WD40 (or equivalent) in the seams on the bolts which attach the upper link. If the noise goes away, you've found the culprit and you should plan on replacing the upper link. (this is a regular maintenance item).

The part runs about $90, and you should replace both passenger and driver side. It is an easy do-it-yourself job, just 2 bolts. If you search the forum, you can find instructions on replacing the bushings only, which can save you $60 per link, but it is a little more complex to get it done.

Never read of a bushing to matchthe ones on the upper links, but texasoil did affix zierx fittings to lubricate the bearings which extends their life.

thanks guys for the advice... as of now i havent done anything so far re: suspension. so far i cleaned my MAF and TB (thanks for the Q45.org tips) as i starting to feel a rough idle especially when on break and on first gear and firing like below 800 rpm. when on neutral or driving 10 mph or more rough vibration disappears. do you think that the problem on my suspension contribute to the rough idle or maybe there's something wrong with the fuel injection?. the car has 102.3k and they change the no.3 fuel injection last april'06 at 97.5k (from the dealer). do you guys think it could be fuel injection? ive searched the archived forum and most of them they suggested of rough idling secondary to: a) maf b) TB c) fuel injection. so far i've cleaned the maf and TB but still there's some feel of vibration(though it lesses a little bit and drives a little bit faster i guess) as i described above. where could i buy the FSM (factory service manual) for my car 1994 infiniti q45 standard suspension? ive tried searching on infiniti of scottsdale but it always give me a zero search on that partand do i really need to change the transmission filter and gasket? Is most mechanical procedures/ maintainance on the FSM ?

You need the TSB also, and to read every post by Q45tech on this forum, and follow the links.

There is a composite of his posts from the Yahoo board in an attached text file in a post in Infiniti General.

i've just been to a different regular mechanic. Re: right suspension, and he told me ---- right side is lower than the left side (could be the spring back and rubber bumber or dust cover and i should change both of them. ) he's gonna charge me at least $200 not to include the parts and other bushings he might encounter that needs to be replaced. the left side is in toe out position which suggests lower suspension (spring back). That's gonna be 170.85 on each (spring and bumper or dust cover -- from Scottsdale)). A total of $541.70 parts and labor. Not including other bushings and labor for that. I wanna do it myself but when i looked on the FSM there's so many tools that i dont have. do you think the price shown above is worth it or is it better to go to the dealer have them do the job. i am just kinda hesitant on doing that cause i've heard they're charching too much. THANKS AGAIN!!!

I know this is an old post from 2006 but I must reply in the hopes that someone else with a Q will be as fortunate as I to have found this site and an answer to a very persistent problem that had 4 mechanics stumped. If you have a first generation Q as I do (1994 Q45t) and hear a creaking sound, like a ship listing or an old door squeaking coming from the front-end suspension area of your car you might just have blown upper link bushings. As per the excellent advice I found on this site I took a leap of faith and purchased two upper control arms (left & right) complete with bushings and had them installed by my mechanic. I am now driving my Q in blissful silence. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! NICO my 3 months of wrong diagnosis are over. By the way I purchased these parts cheaper than my mechanic could get them from Partsgeek online. They got me the parts in two days UPS ground from their east coast warehouse; I live on the west coast. I found Partsgeek.com to be fast, cheap and professional. I hope this helps.

My q had the same symptom and I thought it was worth a try to take apart the upper bushings to clean and grease. It's been 7 years and 80K with no noise.
