1994 Q45 Bose stereo system problem

Something weird is happening to my stereo. The other day the sound suddenly started getting erratic, quickly cutting in and out. Almost like the sound you get plugging in the jack for an electric guitar with the volume up on the amp (if that's a good description). This happened a few times then the volume cut right out. No sound at all. Parked the car that evening, tried it next day, nothing until I started up after work. still signs of the erratic behavior and cutting out but only briefly. Any thoughts.

Corrosion on connectors or solder crystalization is common especially after 15 years of heat cold cycling. Same with electrolytic capacitors which are only rated for so many temoerature cycles...................problems just increase with age in electronics.

The volume pot can also become worn and/or dirty. I've been able to get a bit more life out of a volume pot with cleaning. If that is your issue, a short term bandaid that can sometimes work is moving the volume up/down to it's extremes with the power off a few times. If it's just dirty this can dislodge some it and it may work for a while. If it does improve your problem I'd take apart the radio and clean it with electrical contact cleaner or some isopropyl alcohol and a can of compressed air.

i dont want to be a thread stealer but my stereo has a problem also its the same year as 30bino car well the problem is when i press the cd button the stereo nothing happens i just got the car about a week ago and i got no idea how to use the cd changer
