Hello,
Last week, my 1994 Q45 (150,000 miles) started overheating on the road. I didn't notice until I felt the coolant boiling. When I pulled over, coolant was streaming out. I attempted to turn on the heat, but it seemed like the air conditioner was stuck on, even when I set the inside temp to 85 (max). So, I had it towed to my (trustworthy) mechanic.
My mechanic says the the leak is now in the engine, either the cause or the effect of coolant leak, and it would cost $2000-$3000 to fix. I have already spent $1800 in the past 2 months on MAF, steering, finding a short, etc. My mechanic will not charge me for the time spent locating the problem, as long as he can be the one to dispose of the car. (Has had been maintaining my car for the past 5 years, and has been doing what I think as been a pretty good job).
Any opinions?
Thanks!--Elliot, soon to be a former owner of a 1994 Q45Salem, NH
