I ordered a new water pump and thermostat and I'm planning on changing out the old one over the xmas break. I'm guessing all I need now is some blue RTV, distilled water and coolant. Is there a certain coolant I should be using? What about some type of coolant flushing agent?

I have the FSM but any tips on changing out the water pump would be appreciated.

Is there any special technique for flushing the cooling system on the Q? I was planning on draining coolant, filling with distilled water, letting engine run, cool down, drain, repeat.

I'll be glad to not see a small puddle of coolant under the car every morning...

If you flush completely with distilled H2O, then consider using and OAT coolant.

I have used your drain/refill/drain/refill/drain/refill method... the block drains are just too hard to access, and there is a risk of them leaking or cracking the aluminum block.

Buy a case or two of distilled water at Wal Mart and you're good. I use the orange dex-cool havoline or texaco, also available at Wal Mart.
