Q. This scenario has happened on and off for the last six months. Every now and then, when using the key FOB to unlock the door and disable the alarm, the starter will not get any action. Sometimes opening the door and then trying the ignition again works, sometimes it takes 2 or three tries. Can this alarm (I believe OEM) be put in a permanant disable mode so I can unlock the doors with the key and break this endless cycle?? I really love this Q45, but bringing it to the dealer will incur major analysis $$$. Any help would be appreciated.

Well you have to narrow the problem down to which key cylinders are possibly bad. eg: the Ignition, trunk, or door cylinders.

Look in the service manual pag EL-336: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q4...l.pdf

Yes thats a 1996 Q45 FSM despite the fact you have a 1994, But the 1996 Q45 FSM is far better when it comes to wiring diagrams and better info.

Yes you can use the key to unlock and lock the car.

But narrow the problem down then visit the Infiniti dealer and ONLY speak with the Senior Infiniti Tech and ask how long he has been there and worked on Q45's.

Are you sure it's a security issue and not a starter going bad? Does this ever happen when you haven't locked the car or don't use the remote fob to open the doors? Also, take note of amber security light to see what it's doing in the locked, locked after 1 hour, unlocked with fob, and key in the ignition modes. Is it a solid light, flashing light, or no light? Take that info and compare it to the self-diagnosis in the Security section (EL?) of the FSM.
