Hi Guys

Im new to this forum ive been following for some time and decided to join.It is a very special group and some excellent advice is given in here!

My problem started today, drivers window started making a crunching noise and barely made it up.It will go down but not up.Also noticed some deep scratches in the glass.

2 Questions.1. Do i need anything else besides a regulator?2. Will a reg from other years ie. 92,93 work for my 94?

ThanksDavid

Welcome to NICO. I just went through the same thing with my 94.The regulator and motor are two separate entities (when buying replacement parts). The regulator has a plastic cable guide at the top and is what failed in mine. The motor was still functioning fine. A regulator should run +/- $120.00. Try http://www.everythinginfiniti.comI'm not positive if there is any difference between 93 & 94 regulators.Fairly easy do it yourself.Vandi

Same here, I just replaced my driver window regulator and it's just the plastic guides that break. The motors rarely fail. I got mine from Joe (link above) for about that price I guess, can't remember. It was on same invoice as about $800 in other parts. The install took me about 30 minutes but I'd plan on about 1 hour if you haven't done it before. I've probably replaced about 50+ window regulators in my time....but it is a simple job.

Remove door panel

Get window to come down far enough to get two retaining bolts out holding the glass to the regulator.

Slide glass up manually after bolts are out. I usually stick a screwdriver or similar tool through a hold in the door under the glass after I lift it up to hold it.

Remove speaker/amp as you will be sliding the regulator/motor out of this hole.

Unplug the motor harness and remove all the 10mm bolts holding the regulator/ motor in place. A few of them don't need to come all the way out because they have a slot to slide out from when they are loose.

With regulator/motor out, swap the motor with new regulator.

Reinstall in reverse order.

That's obviously a quick guide but it's really pretty easy.

Depending on the answer to this question I might have a used one I could send your way. I'll have to check?

I replaced one about a year ago. It isn't too difficult. The hard part is getting the stuff in and out of the door.

If you check http://www.everythinginfiniti.com you might be able to check if the same part is used. Maybe even easier, just call Joe and ask him. He could tell you quickly if it'll work.

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to Nico, just got a 1990 Infiniti q45.

The right front passenger window regulator is busted. Is it possible to get a regulator from the junk yard, because the window needs to roll down to get to the screws attaching it to regulator, right?

There are 4 Q45s in the junkyard nearby, and I'd rather get one for $18 if possible. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

Please tell me if this sounds idiotic, but I figured I could just break the plastic clips glued to the window (which receive the screws from the regulator glide), then with the other screws out, the regulator assembly should be free.

my brother tried to roll the window down when it was covered in ice and the front right regulator is busted, its cheap plastic where the cable is guided at the top, if someone has a junked q45 ill give atleast 60 bucks. also my temporary fix for this was to put hose clamps on the track to hold it in the rolled up position.

Isn't there a higher quality after market replacement available? Are the new oem ones made with the same plastic?

I've never seen any aftermarket part for a Q that was equal or higher quality than oem.................at best aftermarkets are oem overstocks or rejects.............even the Chinese don't copy low volume items.

I don't know, $60 for a used 14 year old regulator or $130ish for a new one.....I'll take the new one. Unless you just like changing them all the time

Call Joe, Infiniti of Scottsdale, AZ
