1994 pathy

Hi all new here. Looking for some tips. Neighbor is selling a 1994 warren miller pathfinder. Here's what I know:
timing belt and water pump changed
new tire with tie rods done
Check engine light is on and dont know why yet
minimal rust on body a bit better n bumper
ticking noise coming from below when engine is cool, goes away when it warms up.
206,000 kms on it
anything I should look for?
Wants $2800 for it obo
