Would like to know how to get at the blower motor assy. on my '94 Pathfinder SE. I saw a You Tube video on how to remove the glove box, but it was for a 2005 model. Mine might be a bit different. Afraid to use the same method as the pins look like they may break if I apply too much pressure.

All 4 fan speeds work, but as the fan speed increases, there's a rattling noise that also gets worse. I'll probably want to replace the cabin filter(s) too.

Procedure should be the very similar. Pull on glove box hinge pins to remove, the rest should be self explanatory (just a bunch of screws).

You don't have a cabin filter and you can't install one in your 94. Remove the blower motor resistor and clear all the debris out of there before a fire starts though. Remove the blower motor to clean the squirrel cage out as well.

i can't remember exactly how to do the 94 but i've done it before, no problem. You might need a screwdriver, i think you *might* have to actually unscrew the hinges unlike the 96-04 which have plastic locking tabs, no handtools required... either way, all you have to do is look at it and go at it (carefully)

Thanks. I can probably get at the blower if I can successfully remove the glove box. There are 2 plastic dowel like pins on each side. But the box is not very flexible, and it's very hard to squeeze enough in order for the pin to clear. The bottom hinges don't look like they have metal screws holding them, but I can't be sure yet.

Should the top pins be done first, then the bottom?

See BF-28 for an exploded parts view of the glovebox.

Thanks. I'll try pulling the pins instead of squeezing the sides. The diagram looks like they're just held in place by friction.

I'd imagine they are held in by friction, yes. On R50s, the glove box hinge pins just pull out. Grasp them by the little nubs that stick out and pull them straight out to the side, they should come out relatively easily. The rest should be pretty easy to figure out after that.

Thanks again to Towncivilian and fueler. :)

Problem was just leaves and other junk in the fan cage and other orifices. Running smooth now.

Good to know how to do this just in case the fan or something else goes in the future.

Glad to be of help!

Did you clean the area behind the blower motor resistor as well?

Yes, I did. I've heard that in addition to the noises caused by these obstructions, there's also a fire hazard. All the crap that was lodged in there would have made good kindling.

No parts needed this time. Saved me a trip to the Nissan dealer.
