Hey guys quick question.

Would the struts and other suspension parts from a 1994 Q45 standard fit on a 1990 Q45 standard? Are the parts different?

Also maybe this would be a good thread to list the other parts that are interchangeable.

IE: motor, transmission, seats etc. All the goodies so that in the future there can be a thread for other to pull up such critical info.

Thanks and post away.

Not many useful interchange parts between 90-91-92-93 [some changes]and 94-96 Q [almost total redesign].

Fuel pump and controller stayed the same. Inside HVAC Fan motor, window regulators, cigarette lighter element, some door actuators, trunk lid[?], water pump, radiator, differential to some degree if you had TCS, driveshaft, alternator, brake rotors calipers but not ABS or master cylinder........not much is the same.

Why the differences in reliabilty of the two groups! They fixed problems for 1994 and created a few NEW ones.

Buy a 94-95 if you want a more reliable car instead of fixing up a 90-92Q...[or find a 93 Q]. You will be ahead of the game if you can tolerate the acceleration reduced performance. Handling can be made almost the same [weight increase] and a JWT ecu can almost make up the power differeces stock to stock.........use a 93 transmission in a 94-95 Q....... reliability ?.

Best to just buy a few 92-93 and keep them around in the backyard for parts.

Tech I agree with you....but my performance side has grown used to the performance of my 90. It handles so well I out cornered my friends BMW. He was suprised to see the big Q doing 90 on a bend. I didnt even hesitate to do it. The car just feels that solid.

I have been stuck in the crossroads of next year putting in a jdm motor or getting another Q. Since the cost breaks down to the price of another. But, the possibility of getting another and still having to do work on it is even worse. So far I have done some under plenum work, rear suspension done by previous owner, front and rear brakes, alternator.

Could you give me some input on possible solutions to my dilemma.

I think you'll be amazed at how your Q runs if you get those injectors fixed. One bad one is terrible - I can't imagine driving it with three! I suspect the smoke that you've been seeing is more from running rich than oil since you said that you're not really seeing much oil consumption.

The struts are different, front & rear. It is kinda wierd though, the Tokico Blue rears are the same but the front have different mounting bracket placement. The factory rears show completely different applications.
