Ok I DID search for this and really didn't find much on how hard it is to do this swap. I just purchased a 94' nissan truck with the 2.4L single cam motor (I believe KA). I know its easy to swap an SR into a 240 with the single cam motor but how hard is it to put in a truck? I bought this truck as a daily driver/work truck but I haul 25-36" tvs which aren't very big or heavy so it wouldn't be taxing on an SR. I know I'm gonna get sick of the weak single cam and I just think it would be sweet to have an SR car and SR truck. My questions are mainly this: wiring; how hard is it or is it exactly the same as the 240, does the engine drop right in and does the transmission mate up properly without having to do serious cutting or modifying? BTW be4 I get flammed I DID search the truck forum and they really don't address these questions and I can't for the life of me seem to find a write-up.

Why would you want an SR in your truck? If you just want it because your KA is old and has alot of miles and you want a newer engine why don't you just pick up a low milaged KA24DE?

The main issues you'll have to overcome are:-motor and transmission mounts-power steering-electrical (best to use the SR AFI harness and figure how to wire it to the chassis power supply)-clearances (the SR was designed to fit in S-chassis cars, so the clearances were determined from the factory for us. In a different chassis, you'll have to overcome any clearance interferences)-driveshaft

I'll do a write up on the wiring in the truck section when I'm not feeling so lazy.

The swap into the truck is not as easy as a 240. You will need to fabricate motor mounts (I use a 1" steel spacer and the rubber block from the truck mounts with a bolt ran through it. I plan on making solid mounts for it in the future.) You can use the 240 (same as SR) mounts, but the front of the motor will point up.

You can use the stock transmission mount with a little modification, but you will have to cut the driveshaft to make it work.

The front of the truck is smaller than a Silvia so you will have to use an electric fan. I used a 2.5" thick Summit radiator and permacool fan. You will probably need to modify the upper water neck to get clearance for the radiator hose.

Power steering is easy, use the SR pump and relocate the reservoir to the drivers side. I modified the high pressure power steering line with a plumbing flare tool, or you can spend $50 and have one made.

was cutting the wheel wells necessary or was that just something you did to lower the car more? I also heard you gotta cut away at the transmission tunnel to get the SR transmission to fit is that true? BTW my truck is a baseline so it don't have power steering anyway but I do have a/c. If I do actually go through with this I will be doing a write-up on the whole swap. What do you mean by "cutting" the driveshaft like shortening it or just grinding part of it down? The engine bays in these trucks are pretty roomy if it weren't for the short distance between the front of the truck and the firewall i'd try to stuff an rb25 in there. As far as clearance is concerned I don't think it'll be an issue. Just outta curiousity: how much do the baseline models of these trucks weigh?

Id go with a v8 before I did a rb in these trucks.

The trucks are around 2700lbs depending on the model.

You don't need to modify any sheet metal to get the motor to mount. The transmission clears just fine and my wheel wells are cut because I'm on bags. My truck doesn't have AC, but it's not my daily anymore so I don't care.

You will need to have the driveshaft cut and balanced professionally. Mine cost me $250 with a new carrier bearing.

awsome, thnx for the info. It sounds to me like putting an SR in one of these trucks is a little trickier than putting it in a 240 but not nerely as hard as people say. It won't be right away but a few months down the road there will probably be an SR in my truck. Thnx again for the info.
