It's good that you replaced the timing set because you have the model with the plastic backed chain guides, which can be more of a critical situation than with the metal backed guides.
My truck does the same thing you describe, and I just immediately shut it back down and re-start it. When the crankcase was really dirty, sometimes I would have to re-start it 3 or 4 times until the rattling stopped. This prompted me to take measures to clean the crankcase, and now it is much better, only requiring 1 re-start if any at all.
Someone told me that my starter is for sure going to go out after that many uses, but I have been doing this for years now, and without problems. They must be used to old school motors where starters frequently fail, because mine is going strong.
