1994 nissan maxima engine problem?

my cars engine light use to come on when i start the car but it dissapears quickly after it runs for a few seconds and then it stopped after i got my oil changed but just recently, the car would start very well but after a few minutes the engine light would come on and the car would shake very badly and it wont go away and its not my oil because i checked it and it looks good and teh mounts very sturdy still. anyone know whats going on? any answers welcome other than "go take it to the mechanic" personal experience preferred

Sounds like misfire. Give her a good ole tune up and some TLC. (Plugs, wires, airfilter, fuel filter, PCV, clean the throttle body and IAC valve, clean the EGR tube). Then see what it does, and pull codes.
