1994 nissan pathfinder 90,000 miles , , my wife calls it the bear , because it hibernates all the time in the garage , any way im not sure if the last post went through so here we go , we were rearended on feb 2/14 /03 , 4/24/03 i broke down on the way back from a trip , just died on the high way, i found a blown fuel pump fuse , next day got new bosh fuel pump and fuse, all was well, three tanks of gas later broke down agian it would start and run for 5 seconds and stall ,and it sat till last week , took it to a garage and they found a bad fuel pump relay 5 tanks of gas later it stalled on the way home and for the last time in the driveway got a new relay agian it ran for 20 minutes now its back to just running for 5 seconds what makes the relays burn out or is this the problem at all

I assume its not blowing fuses now?

I doubt the relay is the problem. the pump you installed was it factory or aftermarket? It could be if its aftermarket its drawing to many amps on the circuit and its burning up relays. I feel the relay is only the symptom and not the cause of your problem. does the computer have any codes stored at all?

right the fuse never blew agian ill check the codes , i have a hard time with those but i will go to the book and see how to read them .i bypassed the fuel filter still nothing ,im on my way to get more relays and start all over . what would make the new pump draw more amps , it came from napa , a bosh pump, not the kit , the all in one . this is a v6 forgot to add that ,

You may have to much draw on that aftermarket pump causeing the contacts in the relay to burn up. your fuses may be rated for 15 amps but the fuse can actually handle 125% of that but your relay may not be able to withstand a constant added draw above the 15 amps. best way to check this would be to use an inductive amp meter to moniter the draw to the relay. you clip it around the wire going from the relay to the pump. I really believe your new pump is the source of the new problem since its not blowing the fuse any longer it seams to be a different problem. not to add to the confusion BUT if the new pump draws less amps the circuit load is not enough to blow the fuse but enough to burn up relays. in that case the problem lies in your harness somewhere. In either case you need to see what the circuit is drawing amps wise.
