Ok, here's the low-down.

I am ABOUT to purchase an R32 1994 RB26DETT Engine, with everything on it.

Now, we all know that most, if not all, R32 RB26DETT engines almost require a crankshaft collar to be installed for proper oil cooling (or something in that nature). You WANT to do this before you put the motor back in.

Now, I was talking to my guy I am buying the motor from, whom I truely trust, but I want to confirm this.

He said that because this is a Kouki (or something like that) late R32, 1994 exactly, it has a R33 crankshaft in it already from the factory, therefore it does not need a crankshaft collar. Is this true?

Any help/insight into this would be great. Thanks all so much.

On the rb26 there is a stamp on the head. Its on the exhaust side rear top of the head... where you bolt up an engine hoist hook. Theres 2 studs sticking out back there. Anyways is on the top where the valve cover gasket sits. Might have to clean it off. Mine said H5=1993. H6=94,H7=95ect

mine is also a 93. They made the recal in late 93.5+. I have yet to see if mine has the 33 crank. I guess I'll find out when I go for a topspeed run.

it makes a real cool sound when the oil pump starts to spin on the crank.... sounds like a cash regester cha ching...then you here the turbo impeller grinding on the housing... you just get a hole bunch of fun things to fix....it took me two turbos to figure it out... slow learner

How can i tell if my engine have the collar?it's about to arrive in the near weeks... (R32 RB26, i don't know the exact year...)should i disassembel the oil pan, or should i open the entire head?

if i won't have it, where can i get it, and how much will it cost?

What is the procedure of installing it?

thanks.Tom

Hey RBTALLY, so you say the early rb25det's have the crank collar problems as well? I thought only r32's had this problem which would mean no rb25det.

Take off the timing belt, oil pan and remove the oil pump. Then inspect the snout on the crank and the oil drive grear. It will be very obvious if it has one or not. Theres 2 ways that I know of to fix it. Depending on where you buy the collar about $350-$250 parts plus machining and install. Other way is to have it welded cost me $150 from crankshaftspecialist.com . Heres a pic of it after it was extended and machined. Now the cranks flats are extended and fit tight inside the oil pump dive gear. Before it had 10 thousands play.

To install the collar you will have to remove the crank from the block. You can buy the collar from rbmotoring for 250. Takakaira.com sells the JUN cran collar for 130+shipping from overseas. Theres a guy in Australia that sell them for 200 shipped look down toward the bottom. http://www.skylinesdownunder.c...ollar Someone here mentioned they had one machined. Remember that its going cost to install it. It doesn't slide on. The crank has to be machined then its pressed on. I'd get it welded.
