1994 J30t 125K miaround LA

I am a newbie to auto :p and just bought the J30t recently. I found the CD/Radio/Cassette didn't work. I press the power button, and there is no noise/no display. I wonder if it is connecting issue or the whole CD/Radio/Cassette doesn't work. Is there any way to figure it out? Thanks a lot.

About the only thing you can easily check is the radio fuse but I'm sure you've probably done that.

The likelihood of it being a bad connection (loose wiring harness) are slim since these harnesses are the type that lock in place. They lock in place for this exact reason. They don't want the thing to come unplugged due to vibrations, etc.

If I had to guess, your Bose head unit needs to be repaired. It's a common issue with J30s. I had to have my head unit repaired after the CD player quit working.

Check out these two links from my J30 page:

Thanks for your reply. Where can I find the radio fuse? I didn't find it in the fuse/fusible link box.

You have to pull the head unit out. There's a fuse in the back of the actual head unit.

Also, fuses 7, 10, 13. In the service manual audio system schematic, those fuses are listed as being part of the audio system. Basically, check all fuses and make sure all are good.

Thank you!!!! My tape player never worked when I purchased the car on 2001. In 2003, I had to have one of the amplifiers replaced. Now, the CD player does not work (HHH error).

This was great information. I cannot tell you how grateful I am.

The CD player not working is a well documented problem on bose head units for the J30. I beleive There is a great write up on it on Carlo's site (fuzzycats.com). Your options for getting this proble fixed are: switch to an aftermarket system, get the the bose unit repaired by Clarion(they built it for Bose) or to purchase a refurbished or new Bose head unit.
