I have a 1994 J30 with 46,000 miles. Runs great, but the radio was attacked by grimlins and now will only play music from the CD player. I pulled out the unit and can't find the problem. It appears to be the radio itself. Does anyone have a place that will rebuild the radio? I found one place but they make it sound like they only last about 12 years. This car could be around a long time, I'd hate to butcher the system by trying to fit an after market unit. Thanks ....

An after market radio using the Adapter to lower the outputs to the speaks look good imo.Be advised in the Bose system the radio puts out low power to each speaker and each speaker has its own amp.Gongrats on getting a 94 with 46 K !!Was it in a garage for about 10 years ?? lolVery nice .

There used to be a time when you could send the unit to be repaired by Clarion(Clarion built the unit for Bose) however they no longer provide the service.

The dealers do sell remanufactured/refurbished units for around $150 (at least up here). I have one in my J, its 6 years old and still works great!

Or you can go aftermarket.

Thanks for the help, I'll have to check the dealer but I'm sure it's more then 150. The bugs are killing me with this car!

I have the one out of my '93 J30t for sale. It didn't work when I got the car so I took it to a local Car audio store and had it repaired. That was 5-24-05. It still works great. I pulled it last month cause 3 out of 4 speakers were junk. It had a warranty for 6 months but that is gone now. I want $60 fo it. Interested?

I had mines rebuilt this year as a matter of fact and i am very pleased with the results. I definitely prefer the stock look that the bose system gives my J30, everything is flush and smooth. needless to say, but i dont like the aftermarket look. A company in Texas rebuilt mines but there is also one in Florida that i heard was better.

I just kept my eye on a local salvage yard for a few weeks and the second I saw them get a J30 in, I went there and bought the radio from it. Installed it and everything sounds great in my car. The speakers are probably the only thing in my car that wasn't dryrotted when I bought it.

I personally don't care for the look of most aftermarket decks in a dash that is finished as nicely as the J's is, which is why I sent mine into a company in Texas and had them fix it. It was these guys: http://www.cdplayerrepair.com

Added it as a choice. I'm going to go to them to fix my speakers, but he already told me everything I need to know as far as replacing my Y33 deck with the in-dash 6 disc changer (which I found on eBay for less than $200 - W0ot!!).
