My wife's J30 has an intermittent trans problem where it gets stuck on first gear (won't upshift) when she is in traffic. She is only applying light pressure on the gas pedal to move forward.

I just picked up the car from Infiniti of Lisle (Chicagoland Infiniti dealer) and they told me that no trouble codes came up when their tech was able to replicate the stuck in first gear problem. After paying $120 for diagnostics, they believe I have a defective valve body and that I need a new/rebuilt trans ($4560+tax).

Can someone please tell me where the following sensors are so that I can make sure all electrical connections are ok-1.) Rev sensor2.) Trans Solenoid3.) Throttle Position sensor4.) Crank Timing sensor

Thanks!

its possible its just not accumulating pressure fast enough, due to a worn pump?

Do you have the service manual?

Rev sensor won't throw a code unless you drive around with the scan tool attached. It took 3 days of driving around for my rev sensor to throw a code which basically said that it needed replacing.

Elwesso,Nope, I wish I had the FSM.

Driverdriver,What kind of scan tool did you use? My 94 J30 is OBDI.

It was a Nissan Scanning Tool the delaer had. I suppose any compatible OBD tool would work as long as you knew the code.

Wes,Do you have the FSM for a 94 J30?

If you do, can you do me a favor and send me the pages showing the location of the crank timing sensor.

Thanks!
