This is my first post. I purchased a 1994 Infiniti J30T in July of 2014. I have kept up maintenance and I try my best to take care of it whereas the previous owner did not take care of it. I have recently encountered a series of problems. I have been able to fix most of the problems, but there is one that is leaving me baffled. For a while, the car has been hesitating on me and stalling while going down the road (including a few times going 60+ mph). I have to come to a complete stop, put the car in park or neutral, and then give it a small amount of gas to get to start back up. Once it is started, it runs like nothing has happened. I took it to a mechanic, he put the scanner tool on it, and it said the ECT (engine coolant thermostat I believe) was going bad and giving crazy readings. I replaced that (18 dollars at Autozone) with no problem. It ran fine for four days, but it has begun to hesitate on me again. This time, it isn't as nearly as bad as before, but it still a problem for me. If anyone can help me figure out what this is, please let me know.
These are the things that I have done to try to fix this:
Cleaned MAF sensor
Cleaned throttle bodies x2
Replace air filter
Replaced fuel filter, and checked it to ensure that it was not stopped up
Checked plugs (all looked good)
Added Sea Foam x2
Reset the computer multiple times
I am confused and I need help... :wtf2:

how does the wiring look? There could be a bad connection near the plug or a lot of corrosion and it would cause an issue.

I can give a few you sudgestions based on my own experience with my j30:
have auto zone checked battery
checked alternator under load , checked wiring harness connections behind IAC air regulator (located on top of plenum)
IACV unit two plugs one for ACC other one for FICD
check all injectors with stethosscope pulse on injectors while motor is running .
checked vacuum hoses and also EGR pcv valves and hoses going to plenum..

Thank you guys for the suggestions! I will look into this shortly. I am a college student and I have class all week but Fridays. I did take the car back to the mechanic to try to see if there were anymore codes that were showing. There were three.
One was for a MAF sensor (replacing soon)
One was for the EGR (will check into that soon as well)
The last one was for a knock sensor
The first thing I am going to be doing is replacing the MAF and checking EGR. I will also take my car to AutoZone to have them test my battery and alternator this week and I will keep you guys posted on what all is said. Thank you guys for the advice and pointers on what to check!

I agree do the Maf first. I would even try and clean it again just for kicks. If you have a reputable salvage yard you can get one for $50 or so. The junk yard I use guarantee s the parts. I've been going 3 years on a salvage Maf. The egr tube aren't bad to clean. The passenger side will come all the way out without removing the egr valve. The driver side is more difficult but you can get both ends off and just clean it on the car.

I am sorry it took so long to respond to this. I got snowed in for a week and couldn't finish working on my car. I have also been busy with exams. I replaced the MAF sensor (new one off of Rockauto was about 110 or so) and both PCVs (5.50 for both). My PCVs were completely stopped up. I also cleaned the MAF connector and cleaned the throttle bodies again. It is running a lot better now! It is still having a few problems, but I think I can figure out them. Thank you guys for all your help! Sorry again for the late response.
