car .....camaroyear ...1994engine ....3.4L V6 AUTOABS equiptmiles ....170,XXX

i did a search ...and nothing came up, i even checked a camaro site....that was a joke, least posible help ever!

the problem..check engine light comes on during hard brakeing, or slowing from highway speeds, even without touching the brake, and also during hard acceleration, then goes back off, no symptoms, just the light.......thats the only time it comes on.dont know if it matters, but at first start up, the car will vibrate for about 3 seconds, like a ruff idol, not sure if its related.i know its not a nissan but if we had a "non nissan related tech" room, i'de have posted there...plus you guys are really good. ok, im done brown noseing, thanx for any responses

you need to pull codes from the ALDL connector under the dash. Should be a 12 pin connector. if you look at the connector as if it was in an upright position it is square and not like an OBDII connector. the rounded edge of the connector plastic should be down in this next reffrence. starting from the left, in the upper row of the connector go to your second terminal, see if there is a wire in that hole. if so you can perform self diag using the check engine light flashes. If there is a wire in that terminal you need to jump it to the terminal in the end of the connector right next to it [same row] These terminals are labels A thru F on that row A being the futhest left and B being right next to it. Your jumping A to B. This is done with the key in the on position but car not running. Count the flashes of the light the first flash is the tens digit the second is the ones digit. It will flash the code 3 times and then move to the next one. If it is the same code on the 4th flashing then you have only the one code stored in memory. I have a list of codes so post back your findings.

He really needs to pull the codes to be sure, but I am thinking the o2 sensor is dropping out or exceeding its voltage range. I dont see it happen on GM products outside the 80's but it was pretty common on the older CCC GM products. My 81 camaro used to do it all the time, it was always a code 45 or code 44 [rich or lean signal]

Errr ...ummm... where did I say the battery was bad??I said the voltage coming from the o2 may be out of range. The o2 generates its own voltage and has no connection to the battery except the heated portion of it which isnt connected to the signal portion of the O2.

But hey thanks for the props.....lol
