I have a 1993 sentra se and I was wanting some tips to add muscle? What's the best mods to beef it up? Or should I get a sr20de and start there? Any help from anyone? I just want to make it truly nasty.

you can throw a turbo on it. To make it really nasty then rebuild the motor for turbo with forged internals and put a Pulsar AWD package underneath it. Lots of work and expense but it could be a nasty ride.

So pretty much just rebuild the motor for turbo? Or would it be easier and cheaper to throw a different motor in it?

Where is the best place to buy all the parts needed to do that?

You could always replace the motor to something else. I've seen the VQ35 retrofitted into a Sentra but it was a later generation.

What's your budget?

Don't really have a budget but I dont wanna over spend. I want a bigger motor than the little stock 1.6

Probably the easiest upgrade would be a SR20 but I will have to let the Sentra guys answer that one. I've not owned a Sentra since '96 and it was a stocker.

I'll shoot a msg to one of the Sentra dudes to get their perspective.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. If you could find out how hard it would be to do also if I need to modify anything for it to fit

You may want to do a search as well as there is actually quite a bit of information on the site like this thread:

In order to put a SR20 into the SE, you will need all the drivetrain parts from a SE-R for this to work. As I have always said, if you wish to go that route, it is easier to sell your SE and buy a SE-R.

Also I Have a buddy wanting to know which motor is better for his sentra. Its the same year as mine only its a XE. He wants either a sr20de or a sr20ve? Any thoughts? Which would be easier?

I say if you're gonna swap one anyway, I'd go with a VE, but, you have to have Drivetrain components from an SE-R. The SR20VE are going for around $800, SR16VE, same block different/bore stroke, more aggressive cams, go for around $1600. DE-T motors or JDM 10:1 I think go for around 1k-1200$. At any rate, the most economical route is finding an SE-R. :)
