I say if you're gonna swap one anyway, I'd go with a VE, but, you have to have Drivetrain components from an SE-R. The SR20VE are going for around $800, SR16VE, same block different/bore stroke, more aggressive cams, go for around $1600. DE-T motors or JDM 10:1 I think go for around 1k-1200$. At any rate, the most economical route is finding an SE-R.
