Well I posted not to long ago that I fixed the problem with the 25 AMP power window fuse (Controls power seats, windows, sun roof, locks and Auto Driver Postioner) located in the engine bay fuse box.

Well now the Wiper fuse blows out as soon as a new one is put in with the ignition switched on. I know its the motor because I replaced the wiper amp (Relay) and wiper switch with know good ones. I unplugged the wiper motor and the fuse won't blow. So that means the motor is bad right?

Well what ever the case I hate the car and I really mean that. No matter how much I read or what I spend its never perfect. I can't get rid of the swirls in the paint, I can't find a good drivers seat, I can't get rid of the oil light at start up, NICO search doesn't work. Well it can only get worse and that it does.

So is there any way around replacing the motor? I have a spare USED one so can I rebuild it before putting it in so I won't go through this AGAIN any time soon at least.

Wiper motor failure is extremely rare. Just put your known good motor in and move on. Don't worry... there's no such thing as a perfect car if it's been driven over a month. Especially if it's driven by my wife!

Well does it make it more rare that the Previous Owner replaced the wiper motor because he left the wiper switch on when there was a foot of snow on the windshield?

Any advise on replacing the motor?

I heard that you can get to the nut holding the motor to the wipers by going in through the blow motor hole. But I don't want to take the glove box out for the 12th time.

I am also going to plug in the spare and see if the fuse blows if not thats a good sign. And I can use all the luck, good signs.... I can get.

That's the only scenario I have heard of for the wiper motor failure. No idea how you'd replace it. Don't you just pull the cowl covers off?

Well it is the wiper motor and I plugged in the spare to make sure it works, it does. I am taking it tomorrow to the same guy that fixed the previous problem to have him fix it for $120. And this just happens to show up days before I need to get a sticker, I am a wait till the last minute guy.

I have no idea how the people that do "REGULAR" maintenance to a Q45 and not have anything else show up. In fact I used to think I was lucky for getting the car I got, I also thought that of the 1991 Q45 I had. But to be fair I was no where near back then knowledge wise that I am now.

But I want to thank Mike (Goody90Q45) for telling me to unplug everything then replug it all back in as see what blows the fuse. And thank you Heath for all your help.

Whats funny is that after I paid someone to fix the problem after a year of waisting time looking at wiring diagrams, blowing fuses... I said I would continue my projects (Big one is the keyless entry) but something always comes up electrical wise. I did sprinkle some Holy Water on myself and my car so that will help.

Man I wish got to you sooner. Replacing the wiper motor is easy. Remove the wipers, arms and cowl. The wiper motor should have 3-4 screws on the engine side. Behind the wiper a motor is a 10mm nut that keeps the motor attached to small piece of metal that is also the Knuckle for the wiper contol arms. You might need Japanese size hands to do this comfortably. Pop the arm out the elbow like socket by the wiper motor and remove 10mm nut. Don't lose the nut. This is musch easier with the hood out but not necessary. Reverse for install.

Well I have big hands so thats why I didn't want to do it. The Tech was in a similar boat, he had to lay on the engine basically to get to it. Next time I will do this for sure though after seeing what he did and with the tools that he had.

I recently found out that the wiper motor was not replaced and just the fuse blew about 5 inches from the end of the windshield, when the previous owner left them on and they worked through 6" of snow. So that explains why the wipers wouldn't go all the way to the end of the window. So yet another lesson learned: Never settle for anything less than OEM perfect.

Do ya think! Japanese sized hands for sure! Easy... NOT! I got a NIB OEM wiper motor off Ebay, $88, was $450, been watching it for 6-8 months now, my wipers are way too slow and I live in Florida, enough said. But DAMN, just once it would be nice if something on the car wasn't a complete b**** to fix!!! UUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

Rain-X, wipers are just for passing inspections :rotfl

Seriously though I prefer a fresh RainX'd windshield over ultra fast wipers any day... maybe I'm weird like that.
