Hello, The rear shocks on my 1993 Q45 need replacing. No local parts houses stock the shock. Any recommendations on where to order them? Also, I appears that it is a simple installation: remove shock/spring assembly, use spring-compresser tool to compress spring, install new shock, and re-install shock/spring assembly. It appears that this has nothing to do with rear wheel alignment, so the local repair shops are doing a "profit center add-on,", e.g., quoting $880 for the job. Any advise about procuring the shocks and installation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Look for Tokiko Blues shocks to replace the originals. Sponsor SWA might have them in stock. Best advice is to replace all the rubber components in there while you're at it, plus the dust shields. Don't forget the sway bar bushings too. Check with one of our Infiniti parts sponsors<------They'll beat your local dealer silly on prices. I always call up Joe at Everything Infiniti. 1-888-216-5328Email me if you want a photo how-to guide.

Joe, do some searches in the Infiniti General forum. There is a few good threads on this, and some good instructions. It is a super simple job. Get a strut spring compressor from AutoZone, or your local parts place. You can have them replaced in less than an hour, if you have a couple of jackstands, and a willing helper.

The Tokiko Blues are the way to go.

Get the strut dust boots, and bump stops from "Everything Infiniti" Call, and ask for Joe. Tell him you are a NICO member.

Get the struts from "Southwest Auto Works"

Welcome to NICO!
