Im new to this forum, I happen to find it online when I got my hands on a 1993 Q45 that was parked for 4 years on my in-laws farm here in Georgia, not moved or started once in 4 years. Longstory short, I changed the oil, plugs, cleaned the MAF sensor,Cleaned the throttle body and charged the battery. Needless to say it started right up!!!! after 4 years and 213000 miles. IM A FAN! My question is, my tripometer and digital climate control only work sometimes, actually very rarely. I searched the topic and only found something about the gas light. Please any input would be greatly appreciated by this newbie. Cheers

The trip odometer has 2 bulbs and it sounds like one or both are working intermittently on your Q. The speedo cluster is going to need to be removed to replace these. They're available for about $11/ea from the stealership or you can by just the 12v bulbs from Radio Shack, 2 for $2, and insert them into the holder yourself. Easy stuff.

The HVAC controller display going dark is a common problem in the 90-93 Q and is a little tougher fix. Search out a thread by Q451990 (Heath) for the repair instructions or email/pm him and buy one of his repaired units for a very fair price.

Your Q has been sitting for 4 years so I'd suggest pouring a bottle of Redline S1 Fuel System Cleaner ($8) into a 1/2 tank of gas to make sure that the injectors don't get plugged with residual varnish from old gas. You can find Redline at Pep Boys or Napa Auto Supply for sure and probably others.

Welcome to NICO! I see Mike just answered the post.

Does the climate control start the A/C compressor at all?

On my 91, the climate control panel lights would shut off but it would continue to maintain the selected temperature. You just couldn't see display readings.

This club helped me find a good solution.

When I installed the corrected climate control, I replaced all of the bulbs. I got new bulbs at Infiniti of Scottsdale (IOS) at about 1/3 of the price quoted by my local dealer.

There is a good Q45 shop in the Atlanta area named T3 Automotive: (404) 794-7700.

Welcome to NICO. I mirror what goody said, I might also romp on it a bit to clean all the carbon out.. My major concern for a car sitting would be the condition of all the rubber pieces, under the hood and on the suspension. The second issue being the condition of the trans fluid, I would check that out and probably change it regardless, 4 year old fluids are not good..

For that matter, I would change out every fluid.

Awesome!! Thank you guys! I ran some Seafoam through mixed with a half tank of gas. Ran rough for about 50 miles but is pretty smooth right now. Now Im just trying to figure out why it did not want to start last night. I read a previous post on a 1995 Q45 issue that sounded exactly the same. Thanks again!! Cheers
