HI' My 1993 Q45, Has A New Problem! When shes running theres a clicking sound coming from under the dash, (every 5 to 7 seconds )when it clicks i lose power for a slit second, Lights dim then back to normal, rpm gauge dips then to normal. she sound like shes going to shut off, then back to normal, But what i dont understand is while shes clicking and im driving, the sunroof power is out the window power is out , But horn radio heater turn signals are all normal! I Thought it was my altinator, but how can i have full power on all but windows and sunroof? Last week the clicking sound started, along with no power windows and roof, but after i drove her for 10 15 min the clicking stoped, and i had power to all windows and roof! But Now the clicking wont go away! someone please help.. Thank you!

The electrical gremlins are at it again! Have you done any under-the-dash work lately? Install a new head unit? Where is the noise coming from exactly? If it's from under the steering wheel there's a bank of relays next to the fuse box. You have to remove a couple of trim pieces to get to them. The electrical (EL) section of the FSM will show you where all the relays are located.

You are fortunate to have a noise to chase. Most of the time the gremlins work in complete silence. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

That is the AT control unit but I think the clicking may be coming from elsewhere. There is a cluster of 5 relays/circuit breakers adljacent to this unit and one of them is a power window and sunroof circuit breaker. There is also a sunroof relay and multi-remote control relay in the group. I would check the circuit breaker first, then the ground for the cluster and then the two relays. Look in the FSM electrical section (EL) for exact locations. If you don't have an FSM, Anlasak's signature has a link to download it for free. Good Luck.

Odds are one of the 2 of these are the noise makers.

It really helps if you have a mechanics stethiscope or a good screwdriver to listen for the clicking while she's running.

I would first start with the basics such as the battery and it's wiring.

Have the battery tested. Check the ground strap and also the positive cable that connects it with the alternator.

If the battery is starting to fail, you could end up with electrical gremlins.

Also, do you have an aftermarket alarm system or stereo system?
