1993 Nissan Sentra 1.6 liter surges while driving

My 93 Sentra surges while driving on highway. Also it will not idle at all with the air conditioning on. More so as the motor heats up. I also have an intermittent power issue. When it is cold it seems to have some power, however as it gets warmer I have to push accelerator to floor just to keep up in traffic. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Given that it's worse as the engine gets hotter, sounds like a thermostat issue is possible.
