i think i know exactly what you mean. I have a '94 Maxima and it has clarion speakers in the rear with a built in amp for the rears. so when you turn up the sound, they almost get double amplified. they sound like a blender on a 2x4. they're awful.
so I tried disconnecting the amp wire (it's in the trunk, mounted high), but that never helped. it totally takes those rears out of commission...unless that's what you want. If you do, just disconnect the wiring harness to the rear amp, mounted closer to the left rear speaker, and it looks kind of round/octagon shaped.
I really didn't want to have to tear out seats and pull up carpet and take apart dash just to re-wire 2 speakers that are already there. i was hoping i could somehow select the actual speaker wires and take the amp out of the equation.
